It's our wedding anniversary.
I can't believe a whole year has gone by already.
A year and change ago we were debating appetizers, watching the progress of Hurricane Charley, re-organizing seating charts (again - who would have thought we would have done it even once?), and doing all the goofy things that, like a syphillis test, are requirements for people who want to get married. We had finished talking to therapists about the wording on wedding invitations, endlessly negotiated how to set boundaries with other loved ones with boundless reserves of unsolicited advice, and beaten to death the topics of committment, religion, and money. Also, we bought sea kayaks.
But after all that, on August 15th, we told each other in front of many, many of our favorite people why we loved and cared for and cherished and delighted in each other and were willing to bust our butts to grow together. We had the blessings of our families, our friends, and our rabbi. We also some kick-butt Cambodian food and lots of chocolate.
This past year was the most incredible year I can imagine, and now we're in the middle of a whole new adventure. There's no one I'd rather do this with.
Happy anniversary, my love.
