Have you heard about this woman Julie, who cooked her way through every single recipe in Julia Child's Mastering The Art of French Cooking in one year? She blogged her way through it (her husband gained a whole lot of weight), and now she has published a book about it, called Julie and Julia : 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen.
This should have been me. It might have been me, in another lifetime. (Though even in another lifetime I can't imagine that I would touch osso bucco with a ten-foot pole.)
Today I undertook my own version: the wanna-be-farmer's-wife, urban style. While my amazing and devoted wife whined her way through a hideously boring book and slogged her way through a paper about said book, I took over the kitchen.
Today I made:
- a large quantity of tomatillo salsa
- 4 quarts of kimchi
- falafel burgers
- yogurt tahini dressing
- a frittata
-8 pieces of baked tofu
I also hulled, shucked, and froze a dozen ears of corn. And a partridge in a pear tree. Damnit, I cooked all freakin' day and that list looks awfully short. And the floor still looks like an explosion in the cabbage patch. Hrumph.
Do I get to call this nesting?
