Have you read The Kite Runner yet? If not, what are you doing reading this silly blog? You have to read it, and that includes you, esoteric literature woman (you know who you are) - I promise there's not a single contemporary sex scene. My grandmother read it and sent it to my dad, who read it and passed it on to my mom, who read it and sent it to my aunt, who read it and sent it to me. And in the middle somewhere the Femiknit Mafia, always known for her good taste in books, also recommended it. It has the (I think) really interesting distinction of being the first Afghan novel to be written in English. And it's worth all the hype, and then some. And it kept me captivated for a hellacious airline trip across the country. Go get it. Don't make me have to tell you twice.
