I know no one really needs another exhaustive Thansgiving recoup, 'cause I've read a bunch already out there in blog-land that are pretty damned funny, poignant, insane, or all of the above. After mulitple flights and long layovers that capped off 5 days of close proximity to my high-maintenance, high-return family (the best kind, but let's not pretend that it's relaxing), I won't try to compete.
But I'll just mention, for the sake of illustration, that at a restaurant this morning, a certain someone in my family began her order for water (no ice) by asking if the restaurant had whole fresh organic oranges. This is where the distinction between "laughing at" and laughing with" becomes critical. You can draw your own conclusions about the rest of the weekend.
Anyway, I promised an update on last year's family-posing-as-kindergarten-classroom photo, so here 'tis. Should I mention that the phantom arm that looks like it's groping my right breast is actually my cousin trying to stay out of the picture while keeping his youngest child from toppling forward into the coffee table?
And now to bed.
