Just a quick post... Inspired (not necessarily for the better) by the many stories of long adoption placement waits, and in an effort to convince myself that we will not get an insta-baby on the very day I. receives her diploma, I'm changing the name of this blog to "An Elephant's Gestation." The web address will be the same, but if you've linked here from your blog, please update the name. Here's what Wikipedia has to say about that:
An elephant's gestation period lasts about 22 months (630-660 days), the longest gestation period of any mammal.
Or so they say. And with that, I leave you with this lovely photo, also courtesy of Wikipedia. And there you have it.

It's got to be better to expect 2 years and if it's less, what a joy! -------- COMMENT-AUTHOR:Anonymous Anonymous COMMENT-DATE:7:15 PM COMMENT-BODY:A killer whale's gestation period can last up to 500+ days....

So not the longest gestating mammal...

Although a mouse's only lasts about 1 days - lucky gits... --------
