Last night we were lucky enough to wrangle an invitation to the get-together at Casa de Sparky. I can't remember the last time I was in a room with so many kids at once and no one was crying. I can't remember the last time I ate cheesecake like that. Most importantly, I can't remember the last time I've seen someone wear an outfit as fine as the purple pimp outfit that Johnny so graciously sent up from Texas for the Massholes gathering. We met Sparky and family, who hosted this whole slew of people with seemingly no stress, other than the request that no serial killers attend - which seemed reasonable enough. They didn't even panic when a very small, barely walking human turned a glass of red wine upside down on the carpet. I think these people are ready to be parents. We also met the illustrious Amy and Ruby Cate (hysterical!), Katherine and Arianna, who crossed the room and threw herself into my lap with no provocation from me (it was love at first sight for both of us), Karen and her sweet Gwen, Flingpoo and the Divine Ms. M, and Kikalee and her husband (you can go see all the pictures on Amy's blog). Because most of these folks are waiting to or recently adopted from China, I think we were the odd girls out with our domestic adoption plans, but it was fun to hear about the insanity of someone else's system for a change. It's the first time we've ever met or been with a bunch of bloggers who met through the internets and now are real-life friends. I know I. still thinks it's so wierd, but there were all these fun people, who actually are NOT serial killers (per Sparky's request) and aren't even anti-social wierdos... just people who met that way instead of some other way. I like it. And the kids... oh, those kids. I might have to borrow some to tide me over.

I had a BLAST and it was excellent meeting you both & I hope we can get together sometime in the near future and DAMNIT I DIDN'T HAVE ANY OF THE CHEESECAKE! grrrrrr I did have the chocolate cake OMG, I think (if it's possible) that my ass is now 3 LBS HEAVIER on the left side (as that's where things seem to settle, don't ask) LOL

Oh, and I LOVE TO KNIT!! so please, fill me in on this 'turtle knit' stuff? I CAN KNIT A MEAN SCARF! (that's about it) but again, as I say, it is ONE MEAN SCARF! hehehe

I'M SO GLAD I MET YOU BOTH!!!!!! -------- COMMENT-AUTHOR:Blogger My Baby Ain't White COMMENT-DATE:9:17 PM COMMENT-BODY:Hey guys...made it back to NC safe and sound. So enjoyed meeting you both - what a breath of fresh air it was to be around so many folks who jus "get it," you know? Like the big dork I am, I've added you to my list of daily reads...poor Isadora, will she ever make it over to the dark side? Ah, we shall keep bugging her until she caves. Wishing you a great night...

I'm so sorry, I have no idea when you dropped by the "Extended Profile" part of my blog. Blogger did not email the comment to me.

I have a friend who has a grand-child from China. Her name is Li and she is cuteness personified.

I am also a huge fan of same-sex parenting.

So glad to have found kindred spirits in the either. I've bookmarked you, and I'll be back.

Again, apologies for the delay in getting here!

My Arianna has NEVER done that before! I have, of course, added you to list of blog I stalk. Poor Isadora. We'll just have to bring her over to our side - the blogger side. --------
